Take Us With You When You Move!

Spring has arrived and with it comes “moving season”.  The sun is starting to shine, outdoor projects are in full swing, and the real estate market is ripe for business.  If you happen to be relocating to a territory AEP Energy services, we can make your transition a little easier by helping to ensure your energy supply is ready when you move into your new home.

Moving can be overwhelming and there are many tasks required to get your new home up and running.   A few tips that might help are:

  • Make a list:  Consider each task you need to complete and jot it down.  TheMovingBlog.com has a great checklist to help guide you through your move.
  • Gather packing supplies in advance:  Start collecting boxes early.  Friends and family can be a big help if they know you need them, so remember to ask!
  • Start packing:  The job of packing can become daunting once you really get into it, so start early.  It’s also a great time to purge, donate or sell things you no longer want, use, or wear.
  • Change your address:  Visit the U.S. Postal Service at moversguide.usps.com to change your address.  Don’t forget to notify other service providers of your new address, including your bank, mobile carrier, brokerage firm, employer’s human resources department, health care providers, insurance companies and credit card companies.  Start this process by writing them all down on your task list.
  • Contact your local utility and other home service providers:  Don’t forget to set up new services such as your phone, water and electricity.  Be sure to notify the providers you currently use, and those you will be needing at your new home.

It is possible, in the midst of packing all the belongings you physically see, to overlook the things you don’t.  Like your energy supply.  If you live in a deregulated state, you have the ability to choose an energy supplier for your electricity and natural gas, which allows you to pick the one who offers a term, rate, and reliability that fits your needs.  To find out if your new home is in a community AEP Energy services, you can check your zip code here.
