April 21st: So, here’s the deal. Warmer weekend forecasts have natural gas down- settling at its lowest level in over five months. And it’s not just gas feeling the heat—power prices are down too, following the gas trend. Natural gas dropped more than 20 cents today, and power prices were down across the board.
April 18th: The Energy Information Administration (EIA) reported a smaller-than-expected storage build of 16 billion cubic feet last week. Power and natural gas prices stayed pretty much flat at the front of the curve, with no significant weather events on the horizon. But looking ahead, power prices found some support and pushed higher throughout the term. ERCOT is projecting very low reserves for Sunday evening, thanks to a dip in solar generation subsidies and wind generation hitting its lowest level in recent weeks.
