Weekly Energy Report

March 17, 2026

Monday, March 16 - Cooler weather conditions and lower oil prices contributed to weaker power and gas markets at the start of the week. However, renewable generation is expected to be lower during this evening’s peak period, which has supported balance-of-the-day prices so far today.

Friday, March 13 - Several shortage pricing intervals drove current day liquidations higher than anticipated. This supported higher power prices further out the curve, even as the gas market declined. While the April natural gas contract fell by approximately ten cents, power prices were largely higher on the day.
