Net Metering

What is Net Metering?

If you installed on-site generation (i.e., solar, batteries, etc.) and worked with your utility to connect your generation to the grid, it can help reduce the amount and/or timing of power use from the grid, potentially reducing your grid power usage and, as a result, the energy supply portion of your bill. It can also impact the transmission and distribution cost components as well, depending on your setup, usage and utility programs and rules.

For residential and small business customers, state rules govern how and when credits are provided for all excess generation. The table below outlines how we handle excess generation credits by state.
