AEP Energy, Inc. to Acquire BlueStar Energy

AEP Energy today agreed to be acquired by American Electric Power. "Joining forces with an established company like AEP provides BlueStar with the resources and support necessary to build on our track record of profitable growth and expansion, and to continue our mission of helping customers use less electricity and pay less for it," said BlueStar Energy Chief Executive Officer Guy H. Morgan.

AEP Energy today announced an exclusive partnership with the Schaumburg Business Association (SBA) to supply members with energy and a full range of energy efficiency solutions. BlueStar Energy will work on an individual basis with 500 plus members to customize a program designed to save money and use less energy for businesses.

The Green Restaurant Association this week named Uncommon Ground's Devon Avenue location the greenest restaurant in America after owners Helen and Michael Cameron implemented 116 environmental features. Lancaster City Parking Garages to Get New, Cheaper Lighting

The replacement of the 2,400 fixtures in all five of the city's public garages will provide better, brighter lighting and make the garages safer. It will cost less to power and maintain the fixtures, and the project will reduce the authority's environmental impact.

LG Electronics USA to Cut Carbon Footprint in Half

LG Electronics USA said today the company would use 2007 emissions levels as the baseline for the 50 percent reduction, which would largely revolve around its energy use. Its operations consume roughly 19.4 million kilowatt hours each year. In October, the company partnered with AEP Energy to buy RECs for its Englewood Cliffs, N.J., headquarters. - GreenBiz.com

BlueStar Energy Granted Electric Generation Supplier License in PPL Service Territory

The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission granted BlueStar Energy Services, Inc. an Electric Generation Supplier (“EGS”) License November 6, 2009 allowing BlueStar to provide electric service to large commercial and industrial customers in the PPL service territory beginning January 1, 2010. BlueStar will be ready to serve Pennsylvania customers in the PPL territory, which includes most of central Pennsylvania, once electric rate caps expire in 2010. Rate caps have kept electricity prices artificially low, preventing competitors such as BlueStar from entering the market. Pennsylvania consumers can expect increased market competition, and with it, greater choices and better values once these electric rate caps expire.
